Local interpretation reviewed 2026-10-17. Ward boundaries: May 2026; individual source retrieval dates and periods are below. Snapshot 9df2569f9d36.
How the ward figures were built
2026 ONS official electoral ward membership and May 2026 generalised clipped boundaries. These are not police neighbourhoods or parishes.
Original Census 2021 observations. Chichester and Portsmouth use published ward values; Southampton uses sums of complete Census output-area counts through the official 2026 ONS best-fit lookup. Output areas can straddle ward boundaries; best-fit allocation is an approximation. Census privacy protection can cause small differences between totals and summed categories.
The same Census definitions, reference day and denominator rules are used. Small differences between direct ward publication and OA aggregation are possible; neither is a current population estimate.
Agent source/category/geography and calculation checks; independent analytical review remains outstanding.
not provided; electoral wards are not parishes

Limits and assurance
- Actions are UK Facts proposals for implementation and scrutiny, not invented council commitments, funded promises or assessed forecasts. Existing official schemes retain their own stages.
- Project stages describe the latest dated evidence retrieved. A source checked today does not establish today’s construction status; old intended opening dates are never treated as completion.
- Some council pages returned 403 to direct retrieval. Indexed official publication text was used where noted; unsupported budgets, deadlines and outcomes are left unverified.
- Project locations are named accurately. Ward codes are only assigned where verified; an empty code list is not a claim that the project affects no wards.
- Ward populations and poverty are official local estimates. City or service-area values must not be presented as ward measurements. Police street locations and electoral boundaries require their own labelled mapping method.
- The complete previously published baseline is retained separately: 89 core records, 466 explorer observations, 11 explorer time series and 17 ward profiles. Importing it does not refresh its original source-review dates.
- The former Southampton SWOT themes are preserved where supported; broad claims such as Freeport geography, future jobs or automation losses are not turned into new quantified findings without suitable local evidence.
- Agent source and consistency checks are not independent analytical assurance.
Our approach follows the AQuA Book: keep a clear question, record sources and assumptions, test calculations and show uncertainty. Automated checks are not independent analytical review or certification.
The AQuA Book ↗
Council documents are checked for changes; a changed page goes into a review queue. It does not automatically become a new claim or a completed project. Source failures retain the last successful evidence and are recorded.
